Over 20 Years of Helping the Comunidad!

“Lazos helped me find stability and security within a new environment”

The MARIGOLD PROJECT

The Marigold Project, in collaboration with Rutgers University, supports economic growth, urban gardening, job training, and education, all while enhancing residents’ health and the neighborhood’s economic viability. The program also exposes children of Mexican immigrants to Rutgers and higher education.

Educating the Youth

LAZOS and the Lower Raritan Watershed Partnership (LRWP) collaborated from 2016-202, strengthening the relationship between the Latino and broader community. LAZOS and LRWP co-hosted a “Watershed 101” annual summer youth camp for ages 6-18. This included observing the water quality of local streams, differentiating wetlands plants, mapping storm drains and flooding in neighborhoods, and becoming knowledgeable in natural history studies.

Giving back to the community

On September 13, 2020, LALDEF (Latin American Legal Defense Education Fund) & LAZOS partnered up to host a giveaway event. Materials such as school supplies, books, backpacks, fresh produce, and important information about COVID-19 were distributed among the 350 participants
